Where in Istanbul We Work
- European side: Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Şişli, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Eyüpsultan, Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Başakşehir, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece and surroundings
- Asian side: Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Beykoz, Ümraniye, Maltepe, Kartal, Pendik, Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe and surroundings
Visits to the Princes’ Islands and outlying districts are planned separately.
Istanbul-Specific Considerations
- Older buildings: floor capacity needs closer checking in buildings from before 2000.
- Bosphorus-view homes: large glazed façades get a lot of sun; the aquarium goes on a wall out of direct sun, or light and temperature are planned for it.
- Mains water: contains chlorine; we use dechlorinator or purified water, and reverse-osmosis water is essential for marine aquariums.
- Access: lift dimensions, stair turns and parking for large glass panels are checked during the survey.
Floor Loads in Older Buildings
Residential floors in Türkiye are typically designed for a live load of about 200 kg/m² (TS 498). A 300-litre aquarium can exceed 400 kg when full and concentrates that on a small footprint, so in older buildings we place large aquariums along column and beam lines and use a plinth that spreads the load.
